There is a lot of diet and nutritional advice in the media. Unfortunately not all of it is based on the most up-to-date scientific evidence.
Nutrition is the study of nutrients in food and the understanding of how the body uses them. Nutrients are the substances in food that are essential to life, health and healing.
Dietetics is the science of how nutrition affects our health.
Dietitians are the only qualified health professionals that assess, diagnose and treat diet and nutrition problems.
Scientific studies have shown how a change to our diet can help prevent or control a variety of health problems, including obesity, diabetes and heart disease.
