Minor injuries service in provided in the Emergency Nurse Practitioner led minor injury units.
Minor injuries are injuries of legs and arms that include sprains, strains broken bones and minor joint dislocations (e.g. fingers and toes), wounds and minor burns, ear and eye injuries, minor head injuries as well as minor back and neck injuries.
There are 4 minor injury units in Aneurin Bevan University Health Board. These are at:
- Nevill Hall Hospital
- Royal Gwent Hospital
- Ysbyty Ystrad Fawr
- Ysbyty Aneurin Bevan
Adults and children over one year old can be treated at a minor injury unit.

Occasionally your injury may be assessed by the triage nurse or Emergency Nurse Practitioner as potentially more serious and may require you being redirected to the Emergency Department at GUH.
