A carer is anyone, including children and adults who looks after a family member, partner or friend who needs help because of their illness, frailty, disability, a mental health problem or an addiction and cannot cope without their support.
Carers are a very important support for people who have musculoskeletal problems, whether it is for a few months after an accident or an operation or a longer period. Supporting and caring for someone can put significant strain on relationships.
While caring for someone it’s important to look after your own health and wellbeing. If you become physically or mentally unwell, you may not be able to continue in your caring role. The good news is that there is a lot of support in your local borough and nationally.
